“Homage to the Dolphins – Arione” B
Collection in homage to the relationship between dolphins and men, For the pattern I freely inspired myself to the myth narrated by Erodoto (about 490-424 b.C.) and painted in the Camera degli Sposi, masterpiece of the Renaissance art by Andrea Mantegna (1431-1506). The pattern is composed of a border in which there is Arione on the waves playing his cither with a dolphin at his feet and Arione on the dolphin’s back. These scenes are alternated with borders composed of ropes and maritime knots. Famous tie given to H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.
