Pliniana Bag

” Homage to Giotto”

Collection in homage to Giotto (1267-1337), avantgard painter who marked  the revival of the painting after the Middle Age. He was a great innovator in the use of volume, space and physicality, but above all in the use of color. This collection is inspired by two important fresco cycles, that I have freely elaborated: the frescos in the Upper Church of Saint Francis in Assisi and those in the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua. I’ve been  particularly fascinated by the influence of Venice on Giotto that we can notice, for example, in the four horses of the fresco Expulsion of the money changers from the temple in Padua that remind those of the façade of the Saint Mark’s Basilica in Venice.
