Pirogue Bag

“Homage to Arione and the Dolphins”

Collection in homage to the relationship between dolphins and men, through the stories of two great historians: the Greek Herodotus (BC 490-424) and the Latin Pliny the Elder (AD 23-79), born in Como. I freely took inspiration from some details of the frescoes depicting the Myth of Arione in the Camera degli Sposi, masterpiece of the Renaissance art painted by Andrea Mantegna (1431-1506) and from some grotesque motifs of Palazzo Te, the famous work of the architect and painter Giulio Romano (1499-1546). They were the two most important artists who worked at the Gonzaga court in Mantua.
